ANNE ELLIOTT, CHAIR OF PILANDS WOOD COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Q. Anne you are the Chair of the Pilands Wood Association, how long have you been a volunteer?
A. Since 1992.  We formed a Steering Group and then a Community Association and it just went from there.

Q. How did you manage to get this fantastic Building built?
A. Determination! We were involved in all the consultations, it was
a hard slog but so worth it.

Q.  Why do you volunteer?
A.  That’s a hard one.  I think it is because I am nosey and bossy
(laugh).  No really, I just like getting things done.  I love to meet  lots of different people and I want to make a difference.  I like to see things grow and mature.

Q. What do you hope for the future?
A. Many more local people using the Centre.  More and more activities to cater for everyone.  I would love the Centre to become the information point for the area.  The place where people come for help, advice and entertainment.

Q. Now Anne tell us a bit about yourself.
A. I have been married to Mike for 41 wonderful years.  He is life President of the Association.  We have two daughters and two granddaughters and a crazy dog called Paddy.  We have lived on the local estate for all of our married life and we have been very happy here.  We have made some very dear friends and still enjoy an active social life around our family and the community.
